World's most expensive coffee, Kopi Luwak includes part-digested coffee cherries eaten and defecated by the Asian Palm Civet (catlike animal)
The coffe berries are eaten by the catlike animal for their fruit pulp. After spending about a day and half in the animal's digestive tract the beans are defecated in clumps.
These faeces are gathered by producers and made into coffee.
In the coffee industry, Kopi Luwak is widely regarded as a novelty item. A cup of the coffee goes for N12,700 - N36,300 in a coffee shop.
